Ananthapadmanabha swamy Temple

This temple, situated in kasargod district, is different from other temples anywhere, as the temple here is constructed in the middle of a beautiful lake spread over an area of two acres, which makes it unique and attracts many devotees. The deity worshipped her is Ananthapadmanabha swamy temple in Thiruvananthapuram. The temple is supposed to have been constructed in the 9th centuary and the water level in the lake never rises inspite of heavy rains. There is a vegetarian crocodile called Babiya which eats only the rice offered to the deity and does not harm humans. 1000 year old wall paintings made without using artificial colours is another attractions. The temple is only 30km from Bakel fort. The idol here is not made of panchaloha like in other temples, but it is made using kadu sharkkara, a mixture of over 64 ingredients like jiggery, wax, wheat flour, gingelly oil etc. This temple is on the way from Kasargode to Mangalore.
