Dharmadam Beach

It's calm and beautiful sea beach which attracts young and old alike .The tourism facility centre here has organised many things for the benefit of the people who come here to spend the evening for enjoying the sea breeze. Rain shelter for enjoying rain on sea and land simultaneously, a hall suitable for conducting marriages and parties and a cafateria are all available here. Sitting on a platform in the open, you can enjoy the sea breeze to your heart's content. There are many types of swings, rides and slides meant for children of different age groups. Some portion of the descent from the park to the sea coast has very fine sand, but the sand alongside the sea is hard. The seashore here is hard like that of Muzhappilangad, the only drive-in- beach in Kerala. You can see people playing cricket on the beach in the evenings. Another attraction is the Dharmadam island, surrounded by the sea. During low tides, you can walk to the island as the sea will make way. There is a dilapidated house with many trees and a well indicative of human habitation in the past. If you do not know the nature of the sea here thoroughly, it is likely that you might get stranded in the island. It is better to proceed to the island only if you are assured of guidance from locals having expert knowledge about the island and the timings of high and low tides. The part of the beach which leads to the is land is very difTerent from other parts. the island seems to beckon from near when viewed from this part, which is full of rocks. Muzhappilangad beach is just 7km from here. Dharmadam beach is 6 km from Thalassery on the route to Kannur.
