Ramakkalmedu

A hill station and hamlet in the Idukki district of Kerala, Ramakkalmedu is one of the most beautiful destinations in Kerala, which cannot be neglected while having a trip to the Gods Own Country. This beautiful hill station stands at a height of 3500 feet above the sea level. The story of the name Ramakkalmedu is from the Hindu epic Ramayana. Ravana, the king of Lanka abducted Sita- the wife of Rama. Rama kept his feet at the tip of this place to search Ravana and hence got the name Ramakkalmedu that means ‘the Land of Rama’s stone’ or ‘land where Rama kept his leg’. Don’t surprise to hear that the famous Hollywood actor Leonardo DiCaprio visited this place and made a comment, ‘If there is a paradise on earth, it is at here!!’
